BowlderLodge - The house built by Junius Woods Stevens in 1930-31
at Lake Mohawk, New Jersey.
This site serves as a tribute to the history of BowlderLodge¹. My hope is to chronicle the history of this home from it's design in 1930, through to the present day.
I have had a great start in this endeavor thanks to making contact with the grandson of Junius - Ford "Woodie" Stevens. The Stevens saved many pieces of BowlderLodge and LMCC history and through their generosity, I have a much better picture of this home's beginning than most people have with homes only a few years old. If you have a few minutes to kill, why not learn how we ended up here or look at some pictures taken on my first visit. Be sure to look at the "What's new" section for the latest updates - I have a lot of new material that I will be adding.

¹ Why Bowlder and not Boulder ? Woodie confirmed that B-o-w-l-d-e-r is the spelling that Junius used. According to Woodie, Junius enjoyed using "old" English in his poetry and writings. Many documents and writings of the late 1800's and early 1900's show this usage so it is very likely that this was an accepted spelling of the time. Woodie added "Junius also had a unique sense of humor - there may have been some deeper significance to the use of Bowlder, but that is something that we will never know". It has worked out well for me, as I was easily able to register "BowlderLodge.com" ;-)
